UKSOR RULES

Bangers & DD Rules

Current rules and information for Bangers & DD.

1. Banger Racing Spirit

UKSOR Banger racing is based on the style and spirit of real UK Banger racing, adapted for simulated racing in Live for Speed.

Crashing, wrecking, spinning, follow-ins and deliberate contact are an expected part of Banger racing. Drivers are encouraged to race hard, get involved and put on a show.

Because UKSOR is simulated racing, regulations that exist solely for real-world vehicle construction or physical driver safety do not apply. UKSOR instead maintains racing-conduct rules appropriate to simulated Banger racing.

Banger racing is full contact. Wrecking is part of the racing.

2. Driver’s Door / Driver Area

Deliberately targeting the driver’s door or driver’s immediate seating area is prohibited during both Banger racing and Destruction Derbies.

Banger racing involves heavy and deliberate contact, so accidental contact to the driver’s side can occur.

Race Control will consider the circumstances and distinguish between incidental contact and a deliberate targeted attack.

The Driver’s Door / Driver Area rule takes priority over all other contact rules.

3. Contact, Wrecking & Follow-ins

Banger racing is a full-contact formula.

Deliberate crashing, spinning, fencing, blocking and wrecking other cars is permitted.

Drivers may use contact either to gain a racing advantage or simply to wreck an opponent. A driver does not have to be racing for position before making deliberate contact.

Follow-ins

Follow-ins are permitted.

A driver may deliberately drive another car into the fence or an obstruction using contact from behind.

Heavy follow-ins and deliberate wrecking are accepted parts of UKSOR Banger racing.

Waiting

Drivers are permitted to wait for another competitor in order to attack them.

A waiting car should remain away from the normal racing line where reasonably possible and must not deliberately create a roadblock that prevents the remainder of the field from racing.

4. Wrong-Way / Oppo

Wrong-way / Oppo attacks are permitted on the bends only.

A driver may turn around and travel in the opposite direction on a bend in order to attack another car.

Drivers must not use the infield to launch a wrong-way attack.

Wrong-way driving along the straights is not permitted, and drivers must not continuously circulate the circuit in the wrong direction.

5. Stationary & Disabled Cars

A stationary car may still be attacked where the driver is clearly continuing to participate in the race or wrecking.

A car that is clearly retired, disabled or no longer participating must not be deliberately attacked.

Drivers should make it clear when they have retired and, where possible, move away from the normal racing line.

This rule applies to normal Banger races. Different conditions apply during the Destruction Derby.

6. Infield & Rejoining

Drivers may use the infield to recover from an incident or to rejoin the race where the circuit layout allows.

The infield must not be used as a shortcut to gain racing positions or as a route to launch an attack on another car.

Drivers rejoining from the infield should rejoin the racing surface before becoming involved in the action again.

7. Starting Procedure

Banger races use random/ungraded starting grids.

Races begin using the normal Live for Speed race-start procedure.

There is no graded grid, rolling lap or UKSOR ROLL/GO procedure for Banger races.

Once the LFS race starts, racing is live immediately.

8. Race Finish

When the race winner finishes, all other drivers remain live and continue until they complete their own race and are recorded as finished by Live for Speed.

Full-contact Banger racing remains permitted during this period, including deliberate wrecking and contact.

Once a driver has finished their own race, they must not re-enter the action or deliberately attack cars that are still racing.

9. Retaliation & Targeted Wrecking

Retaliation and deliberately targeting another competitor are permitted in Banger racing.

Drivers may choose to wreck or pursue a particular opponent rather than race for position, provided their actions remain within the Banger racing rules.

10. Meeting Format

The number and type of races at a UKSOR Banger meeting may vary depending on the event.

The planned race format will be published with the meeting information where applicable.

Championship points and Championship-specific regulations will be published separately if UKSOR introduces a Banger Championship.

11. Destruction Derby

The Destruction Derby is an anything-goes elimination event. Drivers may use the full racing surface and the infield area to attack other vehicles.

Vehicles that are wrecked, disabled or overturned are eliminated from the competition but remain where they have come to rest.

Eliminated vehicles are not cleared from the circuit and become obstacles for the remaining competitors.

The Destruction Derby continues until only two active vehicles remain.

LAST 2 VEHICLES 15 MINUTE TIMER

Once only two active vehicles remain, Race Control will start the 15-minute Last 2 Vehicles timer.

The final two vehicles continue until one is no longer capable of actively competing, leaving the remaining vehicle as the winner.

If both vehicles are still actively competing when the 15-minute timer expires, the Destruction Derby will be declared a DRAW.

12. Race Control & Conduct

Banger racing is intentionally destructive and aggressive.

Race Control will not penalise drivers simply for hard hits, wrecking, waiting, follow-ins or other contact permitted under these rules.

Race Control may intervene where a driver:

  • Breaks a specific Banger rule
  • Deliberately disrupts the running of the meeting
  • Ignores instructions issued by Race Control
  • Behaves in a way that falls outside the intended spirit of the event
Race Control decisions made during a meeting must be respected.

Any dispute should be raised afterwards through the UKSOR #disputes channel.

13. UKSOR General Rules

All drivers competing in UKSOR Banger and Destruction Derby events are also subject to the UKSOR General Rules.

Drivers must follow instructions issued by UKSOR Admins and Race Control during organised meetings.

Server-wide regulations contained within the UKSOR General Rules, including the prohibition on Car Reset, continue to apply.
